Fabulous Fan Light Switch Wiring
The source hot is spliced to the red wire which is connected to one terminal on the switch at the other end.
Fan light switch wiring. Of course this is all based on not replacing. From there two wires run to the ceiling fan. I also used a diagram picture thanks for watching.
The neutral source wire is spliced to the white cable wire in the switch box and to the white fan wire at the other end. For this you ll need three twist on wire connectors. This wire is needed to complete the circuit.
The hot source is connected directly to the bottom terminal on the switch. The black cable wire is connected to the top terminal on the switch and spiced to the black and blue wires at the fan. The fan control switch usually connects to the black wire and the light kit switch to the red wire of the 3 way cable.
The wiring diagram above is for typical installation wiring light is switched the fan is powered by a pull chain once you have found and identified all of the wires on your fan and in your electrical box you can get to work on connecting them. In order for the light to be controlled by its own switch the wiring between the switch and the fan unit needs a fourth wire a red wire to carry power to the light kit. Use this wiring when the source is at the fixture and you want to control the feed to both components with the same switch.
The fan has power when the switch is on while the fan speed and the light if the fan has one are controlled by pull chains on the fan itself or by a remote control device. Connect the green wire to your household ground wire copper bare wire. The ground wire sometimes in a green jacket should be connected to your switch and to your lights.
I explain how i wired a ceiling fan on one part of the switch and the light on the 3 way part of the switch. Chances are you only have a 3 wire cable ran to the fixture so you would be limited to powering the ceiling fan light both. The white or neutral wire bypasses the switch and goes straight to your lights.
