Replace the existing twin and earth cable between the ceiling rose and switch with a 3 core and earth type.
Adding a switch to a circuit. Route the black wire that is connected to the breaker switch from the cable clamp to the location where you will install the breaker. Cut in a box made for installation into existing drywall bring power over from the existing swith box and use it for the new switch. Some brands will click into place.
When switch 1 is turned on both the red or white wire and the black wire are hot. Turn off the power to the switch box remove the switch plate and unscrew the switch so you can examine the wires. This is probably all obvious to an electrician.
Wiring a light switch in the middle of a circuit is necessary if there is more than one receptacle on the circuit but the light in question is not at the end. Depending on which way yours is wired will determine how you add the new switch or if you can even add the switch. If the existing cable is installed in conduit or a hollow wall it should be easy to pull a new cable in without damaging the wall.
When switch 2 is on the red wire at switch 1 is hot and when switch 2 is off the white wire at switch 1 is hot. Hold the circuit breaker at an angle and align its connection point with the rail clip or slot in the service panel. For circuits that operate at higher current s such as audio amplifier s you need to run a seperated wire from the positive terminal of your battery to your device and do not forget to add a fuse near the power source.
Connect a new cable to the switch to provide power to the new light fitting. In your existing switch box just wirenut your new power feed. I do know that you will be replacing the original single switch with a 3 way switch and adding a 2nd 3 way switch and the wiring to get to and from it.
How these switches will exactly be wired into your house system can vary. Press the other end of the circuit breaker into place. To assure that the breaker is properly installed verify that it is level with the adjacent circuit breakers.
